She's Alice; she's Emily -- they're doing a cabaret! This time, the two Side Show "twins" Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner will perform together at NYC's China Club, Nov 15. Ripley will open the concert by singing some of her own material (among her songwriting credits, Ripley is one part of Lame, a band formed with Michael Cerveris during Tommy). Skinner will then join her to cover some of the duets featured on their new CD "Duets."
Ripley, currently playing Fantine in Les Miserables was jointly nominated for a Tony award in 1998 with Skinner. Skinner, who will spend December in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Nyack, NY's Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center, has also performed roles in Jekyll & Hyde and Madison Garden's A Christmas Carol.
Tickets for the cabaret are $35 with a $15 drink minimum. Reservations can be made by calling (212) 921-9204. Doors open at 8:30 PM for a 9:15 show time. The China Club is located at 268 W. 47th Street.
