Broadway News Sara Bareilles Takes Final Bow in Her Broadway Musical Waitress March 11 Understudy Stephanie Torns will take on the role of Jenna for a four-week run before Katharine McPhee’s limited engagement.

Sara Bareilles, who earned Tony and Grammy Award nominations for her score to Waitress, ends her limited engagement in the musical March 11.

The composer returned to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre stage as Jenna January 16 after making her Broadway debut with the role last year. For her second stint in her musical, Bareilles extended her limited run from the initially announced February 25.

Stephanie Torns, an original ensemble member who also understudies Jenna, will take on the lead role for a four-week run through April 8. Smash and Scorpion star Katharine McPhee will step in, marking her Broadway debut, from April 10 through June 17.

The current cast of Waitress also includes Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, Tony nominee as Christopher Fitzgerald, Ben Thompson as Cal, Caitlin Houlahan as Dawn, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Becky, Benny Elledge as Cal, and Lee Wilkof as Joe.
