DESCRIPTION

Actor / Coach for 7th grade Shakespeare Scenes


Location: Montclair New Jersey


Looking for an actor/teaching artist to work with 7th grade English classes as they embark on scene work in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The entire grade will read and study the play in its entirety, performing scenes for their final grade in the unit.


The goal is to demystify and activate the language, bringing scenes to life. Student groups will be assigned individual scenes from the play. They will go through in class rehearsal sessions that culminate in a graded scene presentation.


You will see each class approximately 3-4 times. You will have anywhere from one to three classes per day. Your daily compensation is not reliant on the number of classes you see. The time commitment is the week of May 13th and May 20th with two possible days May 28/29. Compensation is approximately $275 per day.


Expectations/responsibilities are:


  • Arrive for class on time

  • Give an introductory session on approaching and activating Shakespeare’s language

  • Conduct in class scene work sessions, meeting with each English class approximately three to four times

  • Support classroom teacher in grading the final project

SALARY

$200.00 – $275.00 per day
