Bennett will play revolutionary Valentin; his previous stage credits include the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park, the West End production of Once, and Broadway’s American Idiot and Rent. Barnett will take on the role of Molina; Tony-nominated for The History Boys and 2013's Twelfth Night, he returns to Menier after appearing in Dealer’s Choice (as well as the West End transfer).

The Laurie Sandom-helmed production will officially open March 21.

Set in a Buenos Aires prison, Kiss of the Spider Woman follows the relationship of two inmates who share a cell: a revolutionary and a window dresser, who dreams a fantasy world involving his favorite horror diva. The play, based on Puig’s novel of the same name, premiered in London in 1985. A musical adaptation premiered in the West End in 1992, with its three headliners (Chita Rivera, Brent Carver, and Anthony Crivello) later reprising their performances on Broadway and earning Tony Awards.
