DESCRIPTION

Brass Jar Productions, the company behind the hit Off-Broadway comedy, Drunk Shakespeare, is seeking a Creative Associate to join our team!

As the Creative Associate, you will support regular maintenance of creative excellence and integrity of the production by working closely with the Directors

Experience Directing Shakespeare and/or Comedy is a plus!

We are seeking a natural leader, who is comfortable with a high level of responsibility and capable of creative and common-sense problem-solving. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work autonomously. This is an open-ended full-time position. This role requires a strong passion for the arts, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

The Creative Assistant will work closely with the Director, Lisa Klages Calhoun, and the Managers of all five of our cities,

Duties include:

~ Watch Zoom feed and take notes

~ Synthesize creative notes into action items

~Watch live performances of our shows

~Assist with the casting process

~Process hiring submissions,

~Assist with costume or props acquisition

~Excellent written communication

~Other tasks related to improving the creative quality of the production in multiple cities.

Requirements:

~ A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or subsequent experience in a Theater Directing capacity.

~Experience with Video Editing/download, Google Sheets/Excel, and Zoom

~Cultural Competency: A willingness to continuously learn about principles and practices that promote Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression, while possessing the skills to engage effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.

~Strong Emotional Intelligence: Exemplifying the skill to observe, interpret, and anticipate the concerns and emotions of others, while effectively conveying this understanding with empathy and sensitivity.

~Residence in NYC, Chicago, DC, Houston, or Phoenix

~While the majority of work will be remote, you may be asked to attend in-person performances or travel to cities from time to time.

PREFERRED:

~ Previous directing experience in Shakespeare, comedy, and Improvisation/sketch

~ Previous directing experience with immersive or interactive theater

~ Comfort with Audio/Visual Tech or Video Editing

Compensation: $1200/week with the opportunity for advancement based on performance

Package: 10 paid vacation days. Healthcare stipend after 6 months of employment.

Work Schedule: Full-time, 5 days per week Tuesday-Saturday
