GRAND HORIZONS
by Bess Wohl
Director: Karen Sheridan
Rehearses begin - 9/3/2024
Runs - 9/25 - 10-/20/2024

SYNOPSIS: Bill and Nancy have spent fifty full years as husband and wife. They practically breathe in unison, and can anticipate each other's every sigh, snore, and sneeze. But just as they settle comfortably into their new home in Grand Horizons, the unthinkable happens: Nancy suddenly wants out. As their two adult sons struggle to cope with the shocking news, they are forced to question everything they assumed about the people they thought they knew best. Funny, shocking, and painfully honest, Bess Wohl's new play explores a family turned upside-down and takes an intimate look at the wild, unpredictable, and enduring nature of love.

SEEKING:
Bill - Male, mid 70s - 80s. Lives in Grand Horizons. Nancy’s husband (for 50 years). Grumpy and a little resigned. Former pharmacist. Working on his stand-up routine. Specializes in crude and dirty jokes. Deflects earnestness. Scared of dying alone.

Nancy - female, mid 70s - 80s. Lives in Grand Horizons. Bill’s wife (for 50 years). Kind, giving, and resourceful. Willing to speak her mind. Former librarian. Now the habitual caretaker of Bill. Eager to feel something, anything. Of late, very invested in the Syrian refugee crisis.

Ben- Male, mid 30s - 40s. Nancy and Bill’s eldest son. Largely financially responsible for his parents. An attorney. Worried about his marriage/marriage in general.

Brian - Male, early 30s- 40s. Nancy and Bill’s second son. High school drama teacher. High-strung and lonely. Worried about the spring musical, "Oklahoma!"

Jess - Female, late 20s - 30s. Ben’s wife. Pregnant with her first child. Newly credentialed family therapist (and sometimes it shows). Strong-willed and outspoken.

Tommy - Male, 20s-30s. Brian’s late-night hookup. Flirty and blunt. A little freaky.

Carla - Female - early 60s-70s

LITTLE WOMEN
new adaptation by Heather Chrisler
Director: TBD
Rehearsals begin: 10/29/2024
Runs: 11/20 - 12/2024

SYNOPSIS: Taking on the familiar roles of the March sisters, four actors recreate this timeless novel using the family memories found in their attic. Jo and her sisters create scenes of love and loss as they make up stories of witches and fairies and scribe articles for their beloved imaginary newspaper.

As these four little women come of age in a journey of self-discovery, we learn that while families change and grow, the ones we love are always as close at heart as the warmth of the Christmas hearth.

SEEKING:
LITTLE WOMAN 1: Jo
LITTLE WOMAN 2: Meg, Professor Bhaer
LITTLE WOMAN 3: Amy, John Brooke
LITTLE WOMAN 4: Beth, Laurie

HALFTIME WITH DON
by Ken Weitzman
Director: Bill Simmons
Rehearsals begin: 12/29/2024
Runs: 1/22 - 2/16/2025

SYNOPSIS: Retired NFL player Don Devers has had over thirty surgeries, experiences violent outbursts, and relies on a blizzard of yellow Post-It notes to offset his ravaged memory. When a longtime fan appears at his doorstep, Don seeks to salvage his life with a single act of heroic self-sacrifice.

SEEKING:
Don Devers: CAST ex-NLF player. Mid-50s. Big personality. Big, boisterous laugh. Charming. Which can turn on a dime to volcanic anger. Despite his condition/circumstances, he never gives in to pain or even a shred of self-pity.

Stephanie Devers: CAST Early to mid-30s. Don's daughter. Pregnant, almost due. Tough, crass, unapologetic, but a desperate and vulnerable love for her father always coursing beneath.

Ed Ryan: CAST Almost 40. Trying hard, never stops trying. Battling to still believe in possibility. Awed by Don. Married to Sarah.

Sarah Ryan: CAST Mid-30s. Pregnant, mid-second trimester. Married to Ed. Trying so hard to be supportive, to encourage and urge Ed along, and to cover her panic.

ENGLISH
by Sanaz Toossi
Director: TBD
Rehearsals begin: 2/18/2025
Runs: 3/12 - 4/6/2025

SYNOPSIS: A quietly powerful, play about four Iranian adults preparing for an English language exam in a storefront school near Tehran, where family separations and travel restrictions drive them to learn a new language that may alter their identities and also represent a new life.

CASTING NOTE: All characters are Iranian. Actors who are comfortable in Farsi are encouraged to attend. Please note fluency if applicable.

SEEKING:
Marjan - CAST The teacher.

Elham - Female. 20s-30s. Passionate. Outgoing and extroverted, she wears her heart on her sleeve. Bold and energetic. Competitive and smart; she’s a conflict starter, but not necessarily on purpose. Though her anxiety is at a high when we meet her, she settles into herself as the 6-week course passes. Elham’s Persian accent is very thick.

Goli - Female. 17+ to play 18- 20s. Kind, sweet and cheerful. Full of optimism and possibilities. Her spirit shines. A bit naïve to the ways of the world. Goli speaks with a moderate Persian accent.

Roya - Female. 50’s-60’s. A distinguished and dignified woman and mother. Would do anything for her son and family. Has a real naiveté. Loves deeply, perhaps at times to a fault, yet they root for her no matter what. Out of everyone in the class, Roya’s accent is the thickest.

Omid - Male. 30s-40s. Charismatic, and at times, charming. Personable. His English is excellent, and what he is able to do with language is attractive. More than meets the eye, he keeps certain cards close to the vest. Has a strong sense of identity. Omid speaks with a very slight Persian accent that he is in control of and can manipulate.

LUNGS
by Duncan Macmillan.
